This past Friday, CERN announced that, after a break of 14 months following a breakdown which led to significant helium leak,
the Large Hadron Collider started running again
.
The particles recirculated to the two rings of 27 km in length, was first injected a beam of particles through the ring where Mimas circulating within the meaning of clockwise and then another in the ring where the particles circulate conversely. For now the LHC is running at low power and there have been no collisions between particles ( hope to make the first later this week ). If all goes well in early 2010, the LHC and will be working one hundred percent and start really interesting collisions, those produced at nearly the speed of light.
Although the first conclusive results really take considerable time to come, this is a milestone. The machine seems to operate smoothly and the arrangements to be made compulsory during the break paid off.
We are getting closer to answers to the riddles most important of all to humanity has faced
