Bad news for Redmond: We recently learned of two governments have issued statements discouraging the use of the Windows default browser, Internet Explorer in any version. The first one is German, which justifies the council naming the attack that Google has suffered recently in China and whose cause may have been partly a security hole in Internet Explorer.

The other government which has ruled in favor of choosing an alternative browser on Windows is that of France, which recommends to stop using Internet Explorer 6.7 or 8 to change any of the alternative browsers that exist in the market (Firefox, Opera, Safari, Chrome and others, does not mention any in particular).

That two governments recommend not using Internet Explorer represents a strong rebuke to Microsoft , especially after seeing good progress on other browsers like Firefox and Chrome is gradually taking away users. Internet Explorer 9 is under development, and perhaps manage to resolve this problem in part with this new version.
