As I commented days ago, the video site Google is experimenting with getting rid of Flash to display videos leveraging the benefits of HTML5 and h.264 . How? simply activating the beta in HTML5 YouTube Video Player . Immediately afterwards, you can access any video (as long as advertising has not before) the site and see it.
The difference is extremely superior , for two reasons:
- The quality native codec h.264 is much better than Flash (which ultimately was not invented for watching videos).
- But above all, the processor usage required to view videos using h.264 is extream below to watch the same video using the Flash plugin.
In future this will mean some improvements, especially for mobile platforms.
