Despite having one of the hardest years of history, Apple surprised everyone by announcing a 50% increase in profits, thanks to a strong holiday season in which doubled the number of iPhones sold.

According to official figures from the company, net income amounted to 3.38 billion dollars in the last quarter, an important difference from the 2.26 billion recorded in 2008.

Executives in Apple showed that sold 8.7 million iPhones in the quarter, while sales of Macs rose 33%. On the negative side we must emphasize the iPod which fell 8%.

It appears that these results were improved by a new accounting system that records income at the time of sale. Previously, earnings were recorded on the life of the products.

We have to say that this figure comes at a great moment for the company, a few hours after Apple announced a new product, which many believe will be the new tabletPC of what has been said so much.

This interest is due to Apple has used several times in January to present its most important products, recently the iPhone and the MacBook Air .

Given this great moment, the actions of Apple rose almost seven dollars to 204.36 dollars.
