Faster, faster

December 31, 2009

In those days all people go running around. Nobody wants to sit still and wants to study things easy. It seems that all credit is to do things quickly and immediately.

A few days ago we brought a laptop to repair. It was an old acquaintance, because we had developed a couple of times before. The client was in a hurry, wanted to immediately tell him what was wrong with the device and the possible cost of repairs. As the team already had three years where I thought the repair was expensive to buy a new laptop.

At the end we discovered it was a great rush. The failure of the laptop screen was not lit. The client thought it might be a charger problem, had gone to the store of Mensa and bought a new one. Not being the solution that had brought us to tell him something that will expire before the period of change from the charger into the supermarket.

The broken piece was worth about 100 Euros and the client did not want to repair. It is best not asked us a budget, ran off to change the charger and buy a new laptop. Total only 120 km driven. Everything must be done quickly and fast these days.

Google Nexus One will probably be presented on January 5, 2010

December 29, 2009

nexu-one-5-enero-post

Speaking of rumors (and disagree a little with Eduardo), there are many kinds and colors, some based only on the super-mantic several analysts and others with more substance that leaks are based on direct (not hundred percent sure that compliance of course).

A new one of these, related to the Google Phone or Nexus One, is flooding the net right now. Well, you do not, if not two, which have come directly from two of the main protagonists of this saga, Google and the operator T-Mobile.

On the one hand we have a picture of a T-Mobile document which indicates that Google, with the support of the operator, plans to roll out a new Android device in early January that be sold directly by the browser through the web . On the other hand has leaked a second image of an invitation that Google sent to various U.S. media with which I located one event next January 5 focus on Android .

If we add these two recent reports everything points to this fact on January 5, Google will present its own terminal , which sell on their own in partnership with T-Mobile. It’s a rumor, yes. The chances are good it’s true, too. We’ll see what happens on day 5, everyone attentive.

Positions that we must avoid when working with laptops

December 29, 2009

A few days ago a study published in the Core77 lifehacker about the most common positions that when we work with laptops can lead to complications in different parts of the body.

Personally I always try to work on the desktop, yet occasionally I go to bed or a chair with the laptop and yes, I admit that I get to work in positions that can be harmful, as some of those shown in the figure below:

Interesting that the number 2, where we would be in bed with the notebook a little high on our legs, is that according to the study, reportedly does not cause many problems, but to me the time I start to hurt your neck.

In short, I recommend my friends, is that we use the laptop on the desk, sitting as normally as possible, ideally, have a good chair. For everything else is the DormiLaptop, which would be a nice belated Christmas gift for Geek Code

. ;)

Maybe not a good idea to pay attention to rumors

December 29, 2009

iPhoneberry

One of many reasons, perhaps, not a good idea to make too much attention to rumors (although everyone, myself included, have fallen to post about it), especially when it comes to Apple . These days we’re seeing all sorts of conjectures and speculations regarding the tablet that supposedly launched in January (the infamous iSlate ). I’m not saying that the possibility exists that the device is zero, I say that if it is announced in the coming weeks, no one should complain or say “I expected more, because expectations were not created by the mark, but by” analysts ” and obsessive fanboys.

This is what he said Michelle Meyers from CNet on 6 June 2006 6 months before Steve Jobs officially announced the iPhone:

The concept of a hybrid spread when Peter MSEK of Conaccord Capital suggests that Apple and Research in Motion (makers of the BlackBerry) is a product trabajadno Intel suggestion. The product would combine the expertise in industrial design from Apple with the relationship it has with RIM mobile operators and handset manufacturers.

Possibly the most uninformed rumor :-)

Caffeine Google prepares to launch imminent

December 29, 2009

cafe

On Engadget already reported the appearance of Caffeine, a new testing algorithm that Google was considering taking in the future. It seems that after a successful test in a datacenter, Caffeine is already about to be launched .

Thanks to this new engine, the Google search algorithms to be renewed by offering faster time to show results , something that Google is taken very seriously by so fast it seems the service. Apparently with Caffeine will also search higher priority to news and the social web and search pages relegate to lower positions in the results list.

This, along with real-time searches on networks like Twitter or FaceBook that Google recently added, forms movement that Google has done to cope with other search who have to battle, like Bing . When Caffeine is launched we not notice changes , but the results will be slightly faster than before.

The predictions of Nicholas Negroponte at TED of 1984

December 29, 2009

Nicholas Negroponte founder MIT Media Lab and initiator of the project One Laptop Per Child speaking at the conference TED 1984. During his talk makes several predictions: touch screens used in devices such as the iPhone , the CD-ROMs , the interfaces page , the use of hypertext content to enrich the information accessed.

He also notes the immense potential of technology to enhance the educational experience for children. Something that was unthinkable in 1984, but these days is the norm in many countries.

Sunrise 2.0.3, the little browser continues its evolution

December 29, 2009

Sunrise Sunrise Browser , now simply “Sunrise” is a small and minimalist browser for Mac OS X for which you already have spoken on occasion. Currently the project is still alive and have recently released a new version 2.0.3, which contains patches and fixes for version 2 in which we see interesting developments relating to the version discussed in his day.

For a start we will say that is based on WebKit Sunrise , is a browser that offers interesting features to web developers also occupy very little disk space and memory is one of the lightest that exists for the Mac platform have added interesting visual effects and transitions and have also greatly improved the integration of the markers that we are in a sidebar with the capture of a web site in question. We also have a operator user agents and the ability to alter the display of a page with three buttons for increase or decrease in size gradually or leave it in its original form (button with the same symbol ). It also adds a code inspector integrated into another of the buttons on their interface and you can change the text encoding in no time.

It is an attractive alternative if you dedicate yourselves to the web scene and you need to try many different configurations of your site . It is also a good choice for a navigation point, since it is very fast and light . Also you have it in your album less than a mega deal, oh and I forgot: it’s completely free .
